The European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) is pleased to announce the conference "EASA2010: Crisis and imagination", which will be held on August 24th – 27th, 2010 in Maynooth, Ireland. The organizer would welcome proposals for papers on any of the following areas: logics and mechanisms of exclusion in Europe, definitions of 'external' and 'internal' 'threatening' actors and phenomena by institutions and individuals, exclusion and mobility (migration, displacement, leisure travel), the instrumentalisation of 'culture' in the construction of threats and exclusion, the imaginaries of threats produced by institutions and bureaucracies, political and state actors, civil society, NGOs as well as of ordinary people, lived, experienced and material culture of exclusion and life under threat.
